China Mobile, in its endeavor to lead the way in 5G innovation and seamlessly integrate digital intelligence, presented groundbreaking ideas at the “5G Innovation Leading, Digital Intelligence Integration and Win-Win” Technology Innovation Forum held earlier today. Deputy General Manager of China Mobile’s planning and construction department, Ding Hongqing, unveiled the world’s most extensive IPv6 network, boasting a staggering 9.52 billion active IPv6 connections across its entire infrastructure. In a remarkable feat, the mobile network’s IPv6 traffic now surpasses that of IPv4, accounting for an impressive 53.6%.

In addition to this remarkable achievement, China Mobile has spearheaded the construction of the world’s largest SRv6 backbone network, establishing its position as a pioneer in the original G-SRv6 technology system.

During the forum, China Mobile announced three significant IPv6 innovations: the “China Mobile IPv6 Single Stack Evolution Proposal,” the “China Mobile IPv6 Technology Evolution and Application White Paper,” and the introduction of SRv6 Smart Private Line Products.

The “China Mobile IPv6 Single-Stack Evolution Proposal” outlines a comprehensive strategy termed “1234” evolution, advocating for the widespread deployment of IPv6 single-stack within the industry. The proposal revolves around four key aspects:

  1. Evolution Goal: Prioritizing IPv6 single-stack as the core for addressing, and routing forwarding, while simultaneously supporting IPv6+ technology innovation.
  2. Key Directions: Focusing on IPv6 single-stack evolution and advancements in IPv6+ technology.
  3. Implementation Principles: Giving precedence to the deployment of internally managed closed businesses, fostering tripartite cooperation, and coordinating open internet business.
  4. Promotion Measures: Encouraging single-stack upgrades, unlocking innovation potential, fostering industry collaboration, and strengthening exchanges and cooperation.

The “China Mobile IPv6 Technology Evolution and Application White Paper” provides an extensive overview of IPv6 network requirements, development trends, and core concepts associated with IPv6 technology innovation. It delves into key technologies driving IPv6 evolution, such as SRv6/G-SRv6, MSR6, IP network slicing, flow detection, application awareness, and internal health security. The paper also presents practical case studies and deployment plans for the implementation of these technologies in live network scenarios.

Enabling users with greater control and visibility, the SRv6 smart private line leverages IPv6-based smart forwarding technology. This empowers enterprises by providing them with manageable and controllable smart private line products that cater to diverse needs, facilitating their transition toward digital intelligence.
