Because, If you choose a Cheaper one, you will not be able to use many extra features. Some motherboards come with RGB lighting, NVME support, and Many more. The Features/Specs You Need To Look For Before Buying A Motherboard For Gaming
The First Things obviously you need to pick the right processor, in order to choose the gaming board because, Because Intel And AMD have different Socket For their Motherboard. Either you need to Go for AMD Ryzen Series CPU or Intel-Based CPU. Normally, The AMD Ryzen Series Processor Supports AM4 Motherboard for 1st and 2nd generation processor. And AM4 plus socked motherboard is designed to support the latest 3rd gen AMD Ryzen series CPU. But, Some AM4 Socket motherboard also supports the 3rd gen processor with a firmware update. You need to check on the reviews section or on the official product page, if you want to use An AM4 socked for the 3rd gen AMD Ryzen processor.
The Intel processor supports 1155 Socket for Intel 8th and 9th gen processor. Intel 10th gen processor supports LGA 1200 Socket. There are very motherboards available for Intel 10th generation motherboard and it’s very costly. If you are building a gaming pc then instead of going for a 10th gen Intel processor, you can go for 8th or 9th, which is perfectly fine.
RAM Slot
You are building or upgrading a gaming pc, then you need at least 8GB of RAM, but I recommend having at least 16GB of RAM, My gaming pc equipped with 16GB of RAM, and it’s super smooth. You need to look for how many RAM SLOT is available on that motherboard. Most of the motherboard which cost under 10000 comes with 2 slots or you can call dual channel motherboard. But if you are serious gamer you might need at least 4 slots for future upgrades. or you need to buy a single 8GB RAM or 16GB RAM stick if you are going for a dual-channel RAM motherboard. And most of the gaming motherboard supports above 3000Mhz RAM frequency, which is good,
Crossfire And SLI
Very few peoples use the crossfire technology by AMD, It’s similar to the Nvidia SLI technologies. Crossfire technologies enabled to use more than 2 graphics card on a single motherboard. it’s maybe sound cool, in my opinion, until you have a very high budget, this is not worth it. Instead of crossfire two graphics card, buy a Better graphics card, you will get better performance, there is no proven result of doubling the performance by equipping the Dual graphics card on the motherboard. But this dual graphics card gives an optimum performance boost. The SLI motherboard on the other hand is very costly!
If you have no issue with budget, then you can try SLI, for this you need to look for a very high-quality motherboard in order to supports and run all day long with SLI Dual graphics. I will cover on another blog post, best gaming motherboard with SLI technologies.
RGB Lighting
Yes! Why not if you are spending 12k, 14k for a gaming motherboard. RGB lighting may not improve any performance of your gaming pc, but it looks great if you have a gaming cabinet. It looks so cool at night time, I personally own an Asus Arous RGB gaming motherboard, I love it.
NVMe
This type of memory is faster than SSD! Yes, you can look for NVme supports Gaming motherboard, normally all latest motherboard supports NVMe type memory. SSD is a good option if you have a very strict budget, otherwise, go for NVme, In my case, I’m using SSD, and I’m happy with this, but soon I will have an NVMe, for testing.
Overclocking
You can do overclocking on all the motherboards, but it’ not a good idea! You can burn some inner components of the motherboard if you overclock a cheap motherboard or if you haven’t chosen the right profile for overclocking. So, in my opinion, yes you can look for the overclocking ability of a gaming motherboard, but I device not do it, unless you have a full pocket of money.
Wifi And Bluetooth
High-end gaming motherboards come with built-in Wifi and Bluetooth modules, if you don’t, don’t worry, instead of spending 4k extra for this, you can buy it separately under 1000 from market or online.
Other minor parts are USB ports, Water cooling(expensive), etc. As here I creating an alist of budget gaming motherboard in India, so, not considering water cooling here, I will cover on another blog.
