Apple has introduced the iPad and iPad Air product at their press conference and demonstrated several technical applications. For the expanded application regarding deep learning, performance, and experience, the iPad series launching conference was quite worthy from every perspective. The eight-generation iPad price was declared 329 dollars, and the educational discount was declared 299 dollars. The eight-generation iPad will be on sale this week onwards, and the new iPad Air will be on sale from next month for 599 dollars.
Upgrades Of The iPad Processor
First of all, we will drag the attention on the chip of the iPad Air. As the overall performance relies on the processor, it drags every user’s attention. Apple has used the A14 chip on the new iPad Air and with impressive performance. The A14 chip works on 5nm process technology along with four GPU cores and six CPU cores. It also includes a 16-core neural engine design and 11.8 billion transistors. We can say that 2020 is the third consecutive year when Apple got several advantages from TSMC’s manufacturing process improvements.
The performance of this 5nm process always has been everyone’s focus. Previously TSMC has declared that the 5nm processor uses extreme ultraviolet lithography technology across the manufacturing process that increases the logic density by about 80%. This advanced lithography technology not only efficiently uses the wafers but also improves the output performance of the device efficiently. Overall, this technology will give the users a smooth electronic device experience.
The A14 chip also contains 11.8 billion transistors, and it will include 11 trillion calculations per second. The previous A13 chip had 8.5 billion transistors, and the A12 chip included 6.9 billion transistors. So, this gradual performance improvement lets Apple try multiple latest technologies. Moreover, Apple is trying to upgrade the AI performance of the chip through the ML accelerator and the neural engine. This ML accelerator on the iPad, along with the application of 16 core neural engines, improves the overall performance of the device. Along with the processor upgrade, there will be several more upgrades in these iPad segments, including a USB-C interface, stereo speakers, Touch ID Fingerprint sensor, retina display screen, etc.
